Reflexology during pregnancy

The joy of pregnancy can bring with it discomfort and minor ailments. Reflexology is a natural therapy which helps maintain a balance as your body experiences many changes throughout your pregnancy.

As well as exercise and a nutritious diet, regular reflexology helps keep you in optimum health, easing tension and other common discomforts of pregnancy, such as…..

Morning sickness

Headaches

Heartburn

Constipation or diarrhoea

Swelling and puffiness from fluid retention

Pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome

Sleepless nights, fatigue and exhaustion

A study carried out in the UK with pregnant women found that those who received reflexology not only spent much less time in labour but many were delivering without the need for opiates or epidurals. The study also found that many problems encountered in pregnancy were alleviated, resulting in the women carrying more comfortably, coping better and needing less medication.

What are the benefits during pregnancy?

Relaxes and calms the whole body, encouraging wellbeing

Increases energy levels

Brings hormones into balance

Boosts the immune system

Enhances pelvic flexibility in preparation for the birth

Can assist in inducing labour naturally

Receiving reflexology treatments throughout your pregnancy is a wonderful way to nurture your own body as well as your baby within. Reflexology is safe to receive during any stage of pregnancy.
